For how many days will markets and factories in China close between January & February 2014

Usually, the holiday will last seven days. during which most shops and factories will be closed I'm afraid.0

With respect to factories, everything will be closed the last week of January but you can count on most places being closed the the week before and/or the week after as well. As a general rule, I write off the 2 weeks before Chinese New Year and the 2 weeks after. It is pretty much a lost month here because there is no consistency with opening and closing of business for CNY. I would check with all the places you need to visit well in advance of coming here to see if they are open. There is a good chance they won't know, because many companies don't decide when and how long they will close until just before the holiday.1
