Applying for the visa a lot in advance: my doubts

Hello everybody,
I am organizing a long trip and I have to apply for several types, the chinese one being among them. For this reason, I am forced to apply a lot in advance: I calculate I will enter in PRC around the 25th of May, 2014, and I should apply for the one probably in the end of December, 2013. I read this article and had a look at the application form, and I have doubts concerning the following points:

1) Date of validity is "3 months or 6 months"; of course I need 6 months, since I apply in December to enter in May. In the application form I have to choose between "one entry valid for three months from application" and "two entries valid for 3 to 6 months from application". Does it mean that to have one valid for 6 months I am forced to ask for double entry?

2) In the form I am asked to write the exact date of my entrance, but of course I don't know it precisely, I can guess it within a range of a week. Is it a problem if I am not precise with this date?

3) I don't have any reservation of a flight to enter; maybe I will fly to leave the country, but I am not going to book such a flight on time to attach its reservation to the application form. For this reason, do I need to ask a tourist company for an invitation letter?

4) To have my long trip I will have to leave my current job: for this reason, to avoid troubles with my company, I would prefere not to write the address and telephone number of my company in the application form, and rather declare myself "unemployed". Can this be a factor of risk to have my application rejected, because maybe chinese government thinks I am going to enter as a tourist and look for a job?

Thank you very much for your patience, and I hope you can help me with your answers.

1). Actually, you needn’t to apply for it so early. According to the Chinese embassy, applicants should apply no more early than three months. The best time is one month in advance before you leave according to your schedule. If you do as the embassy says, then you won’t be bothered. Most importantly, the validity and duration of your stay is determined by the consular offices. Even you apply for a double entry, they might just give you one entry.
2). I read the form and find that it is written “expected date of your first entry”. So I think May 25 is ok. For the longest intended stay, you can estimate according to your itinerary. See, all these dates are “expected” or “intended”. It doesn’t matter that you can’t give the precise dates.
3). It’s ok if you can ask a travel or visa agency to issue the invitation letter. However, I don’t think that the travel agency will give one to you if you don’t join their tours.
4). The consular officials never tell the applicants whether they fail in the applications. It might be a potential factor. But I think it’s ok if you can burden all the expenditure when you stay in PRC.

Yvonne, thank you for your answer (and for the patience reading all the stuff I wrote).

About the point (1), I thought about applying for it so early because I am planning a big trip with 7 visas, and each of them takes at least a week to process. Moreover, in my original plan I would enter in China more than three months after my departure from my country.

Since the limit for application is three months earlier, I'll have to adapt myself and change my original plans
