Insurance for students

Is it compulsory for a foreign student to have an insurance? Is an insurance from home country is valid or students are required to have a insurance from a Chinese insurance company. If its like that how to apply for the same ?

Yes, as I know, English or Chinese proof of your overseas medical insurance (originals or notarized copies) is acceptable. You can also purchase from China Ping’an Insurance Co. when Registering.
