About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Asking from Thailand 72 hour pass.

Hi,

I am traveling from San Francisco to Shanghai, Shanghai to Bangkok, Bangkok to Beijing, Beijing back to Shanghai, and finally Shanghai to San Francisco. Will I qualify for a 72 hour pass?

Please let me know asap as I am leaving to Beijing in two days.

Hi, it is ok for first entry to Shanghai, but this 72 hour exemption does not apply to a transit via two cities, so you need a visa from Bangkok to Beijing then to Shanghai. But if your second entry is less than 24 hours (including domestic flight between BJ and SH), visa is not necessary.

Hi Adrian,

Thank you for your response. I am actually leaving bangkok in to days to stay in beijing for about 2 days only. I will then have to fly over to shanghai for a 4 hour layover to get back to usa. Wouldnt that apply for the 72 hour transit?

Sorry, I am afraid not, but you can further confirm this with your airline, or Beijing airport directly at 0086-10-56095400
