is it possible from usa hostel to ngongping 360 then proceed to the peak? what are the best routes?

It is possible, but you may need to transfer a little.
Back from Ngong Ping 360, you can go to the Tung Chung Station to take the Tung Chung Line to reach HK Station. Then you can walk to Pier 8 of Star Ferry to take bus C15 to reach the Peak Tram Station to take tram to reach the top of the Peak.

Oh, sorry to not tell you how to go to Ngong Ping 360 from USA Hotel.
The hotel is close to Tsim Sha Tsui Station, so you can walk to that station to take the Tsuen Wan Line to reach Lai King Station. Then change to Tung Chung Line to reach Tung Chung Station. Get out of the station of Exit B, you can find the station of Ngong Ping 360.

You can also travel by bus+subway, but the cable car down and then transfer to MTR to the Peak will be more convenient and time-saving.
