Hi! I would like to know how do go from Guangzhou City Centre to Yayaozhen, Heshan, then to Beijiao, Shunde on the same day around middle of November?

The logistics is a big headache as I have big luggages. Do they have high speed train?

Another question is that, how is the best and cheapest way to send things to Malaysia after shopping? Maybe expensive to take them on the flight. Not to mention heavy and inconvenient, too.

I'm afraid no direct train or subway can take you to Yayaozhen. As I am not sure about your present location, I can just tell you that local bus no. 706 can take you to Yayaozhen Government bus stop.

Then take a taxi from Yayaozhen to GZ North Train Station where you can take a train to GZ South Station. There you can easily find a train to Beijiao town, Shunde.

Generally, it is most trustworthy to use China Post for delivery.

Thanks. But Yayaozhen is in the south of Guangzhou. If I take a taxi from Yayaozhen to Guangzhou north station, it would be very expensive, no? Then from there take a train down south again. It's a roundabout way.

Oh, sorry. As there are two Yayaozhen around: one is at GZ Huadu District and the other is at Heshan, I thought you meant the first. Anyway, for your trip, here is the route:
At the Provincial Bus Station or City Bus Station near local main railway station, u can take a direct bus to Heshan first. Upon arrival, take a motocycle or taxi to your destination at Yayaozhen.

Then to Beijiao, Shunde, you can take a bus at Heshan Bus Station to Shunde. Then it is easily to transfer to a bus or train to Beijiao.

Thanks. How long is the journey from GZ to Yayaozhen in Heshan and how long is the trip from Heshan to Shunde and then Shunde to Beijiao. No trains to these places?

I guess carrying luggages will be inconvenient, right?

Also, if I take the high-speed rail from GZ or Shunde to Zhuhai, do I stop right at the immigration point? Or is it a long distance because I will be carrying big luggages.

Thank you.

No, there is no train service for these trip. From GZ to Heshan, it takes around an hour and then 10-20min to Yayaozhen. Heshan to Shunde by bus, it also takes around an hour and to Beijiao, it is only aorund 15km.

It is generally fine to take luggage to travel. There are lugagge rack or closet in the buses. Don't worry much about that!

Yes, the Zhuhai Station you will arrive by bullet train is within walking distance from the border.

Hi Joanne,
I chanced upon this website as I was planning a trip to Yayaozhen, which is my ancestral village.
Could you please tell me which are the significant places to visit while there?
Thanks in advance.

Hi! Song

Are you sure that's your ancestral village? It's very small. In fact it's not Yayaozhen. It's maybe Yayao village. It's in Heshan, is that right? Wow! Nice to meet you! It's actually a very small village. If indeed it is the same place, your ancestors might know my ancestors. Ha! Ha!

I usually only visit my grandfather's ancestral home when I'm there. There are some little 'neighbourhoods' around there where you can go buy some necessities. It's called 'Tong Ha' (cantonese). The last time I went, 2 years ago, there were some people rearing pigeons for commercial purposes.

I used to like it when it was all village houses, fish pond, fruit trees but now people re-build their old homes into 'new buildings'....... I'm really disappointed.

Maybe you can tell me places to visit after you have visited. Sorry couldn't be of help.

Hi Joanne,
Thanks for your swift reply!
Yes, my ancestral village is indeed in Yayao, specifically Daqiao village (大桥村).
It's interesting coz we may be originated from the same village :)
