About:Taipei Transportation

Hualian to Taichung

what is the best route to travel from Hualian to Taichung? (1) direct train from Hualian to Taichung (heard is 4hrs journey)
(2) or train from Hualian to Taipei, then take HSR from Taipei to Taichung , it take how long?
