It was possible to apply for extension with one more entry before, but I am not sure is this still allowed based on the new regulations in July, 2013. You are advised to contact a local travel agency or visit the PSB directly for more information.

P.S. if the duration of stay issued to your X2 is expiring soon, it is ok for you to visit HK and Macao directly, and apply for a new Chinese visa in HK.
