About:China Visa Application Requirements

Pls advise which category and any special tips for the application.

Hi , I never been to Shanghai before and not really sure how to apply for visa . I'm planning to go there on Dec..I'll stay at my colleague house there ( she is working there ). I'll have the flight ticket but dont have the hotel booking as I wont be staying in hotel ..thanks

You should apply for a tourist type. You'd better ask her to send you the invitation letter if you don't reserve a hotel.

The easiest way is to get L (tourist) if it is your first time to visit China. You need: round trip flight tickets and hotel booking or round trip flight tickets, your friend's invitation letter with all his/her details as well as yours included and your friend's photocopied ID both sides. If your friend is a foreigner living in China, then he needs to provide his photocopied passport data page and the valid visa status that he's having in China as well as the invitation letter.
