About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Lax-TYO via CTU? On USA passport

I plan to go from LAX to TYO. Even though CTU is past TYO from LAX, can I book LAX-CTU stay 72hrs then CTU-TYO stay 12 days then TYO-LAX? Or would I have to go in reverse, LAX -TYO for 12 days then TYO-CTU for 72hrs then CTU-LAX. Just wondering if thats classified as a lay over?

Hi, both itineraries are ok if you have flight ticket leaving from CTU within 72 hours to Tokyo or back to L.A. from Tokyo. You can also confirm this with your carrier airline.
