Free visa to Shanghai

I want to buy a four days three nights tour of SH, would I qualify for a free visa if I am holding a U S Passport? The trip will start in the Philippines.

If you are making an international transfer in Pudong airport and join a tour in the 72 hours, the visa is not needed. Otherwise, the visa is needed.

The trip will start in the Philippines. It is not actually a tour but a promo sale originating in the Philippines. It is a four days three nights special package deal including airfare and accommodation. As I said, I am holding a U S Passport. I have never been in SH, it will be my first time. Would I qualify for a free visa? I am here in the Philippines as a dual citizen but without Philippine Passport

According to the rules, you are not qualified for the visa free policy and you need to apply for a Chinese visa.
