About:China Silk

Embroidered silk

Hello, I am going to China in April 2014. Really not to shop but to see the country. But the embroidered silk looks like something I would enjoy bring home for the memories..i will be in Beijing; Xi'an, Chengdu, Guillin, Yangshuo, Shanghai and perhaps Tibet. Can you recommend good shopping in any of these cities, especially for the embroidered silk. Authentic and definitely not like the Stanley Market in Hong Kong. Small authentic shops...Not tourist traps. Thanks

Here is what I know:
In Xian, you'd better go to local Muslim Quarter to find such things and in Beijing, I know a store at Qianmen named Rui Fu Xiang selling real embroidery silk.

Besides the cities you are visiting, if possible, it is suggested to have a short visit at Hangzhou, where there is a Silk Street. There you woul have many choices for what you want.
