About:Chinese Embassy in Canada

Do we need to apply for a visa in advance if traveling by land through the border of Kodari, Nepal?

That would be for a Canadian passport holder who is presently in Nepal.

Yes, you need to apply for a tourist L in advance as well as Tibet Entry Permit through a local travel agency if you plan to travel through Tibet.
