It is most suggested to hire a car or van for this trip. If possible, it is best to visit the wall accompanied by a Chinese or tour guide to make your trip easier in case of any emergency.

Also I have to remind you that you should ensure it doesn't heavily snow first. Check the weather report to wear proper clothes.
