Question

Great website! I am booking my way through Shanxi right now, will check out of Datong garden hotel on the 15th, ponder on visiting Wutai Shan and continue to Taiyuan. The Lonely Planet reads that buses only drive in the summer time and warns for blizzards. After I read this website I decide to give it a try. Please offer some specific info where to get the bus from datong and where to get the bus or train to Taiyuan. I look forward to my time in China, Thanks in advance!

Although sunny days would be frequent in the Mt. scenic area, it would be cold, with the average temp of 3-5C in late Oct.. You'd better prepare thermal clothes.I remember there are direct buses to Wutaishan, leaving from Datong Bus Station. You can go there for consultation about the schedule. At Wutaishan Bus Station, there are direct buses to TY city. Don't worry!
