Work permits for Hong Kong citizens ?

Hi my name is Andy , I was born in Hong Kong and was wondering if i need a work permit to work in Shanghai. I current hold a HK identification card and an US passport. Thanks

Yes, you need to get a work permit and invitation letter first for Chinese work Z application.

Okay. But do you know if I can apply for the work permit while I am living in China on a tourist L?

Or must I leave the country to apply for the work permit ?

The work permit can be processed when you are in mainland PRC. Actually, your employer should handle this permit for you from relevant department.
