Renew Chinese Z visa, for American in Thailand

I am an American citizen, currently in China and I have a Chinese Z (which expires during my time in Thailand). Is it possible to renew my Z while in Bangkok? If so, what documents will be required for renewal & how quickly can this be performed? Many Thanks ahead of time!

Hi, if you are now in mainland PRC with a work Z, you should apply to the exit/entry administrations of public security organs under local people's governments for foreigners' residence permit. With this permit, you can exit and enter mainland freely.
It is impossible to renew it because as it usually issued with a single entry, and the entry has been used.

Well, the issue at hand is if it is possible to renew the Z visa (1 year, multi entry) in Thailand or must I cancel the Thailand trip? Thanks!
