On personal boat in Thailand want to travel to PRC

We are USA citizens with the proper passport. We have just returned from the USA. We have our personal boat papers that allow our vessel to be in the country till Dec. 6, 2013. Our entry/exit visa's for Thailand are for the 30 day period allowed when traveling by airplane. We will wish to travel to China in Nov. 2013 return to Thailand. Are the boat papers enough for the proof of residence requierment for the visa to PRC? or What do we have to do to travel to PRC?

You might apply from the Chinese embassy for the L type when you are in Thailand. It requires your passport, a completed application form, a recent passport size photo, round-trip air tickets and hotel booking in PRC.
