Hi Felicia,
Thanx for responding. Yeah, I found that restaurant on the Net too, and I found the actual restaurant ydy evening. But to each his own, I do not feel it is halal. It appears to me as a rest. serving muslim cuisine. There was only a tiny motif of a mosque dome somewhere near the doorway, but I feel it is merely an indication (and an inconspicuous one at that) of the cuisine.
Now, I also found other eateries on the Net, and later last night unsuccessfully tried to locate another one supposed to be on Tianmu West Road.
Undeterred, I continued my search during lunch time today and found a small eatery.
I was all written in Chinese, except for the 'halal' signs (including one in colourful LED) and basic Qur'anic verses. To me, that is good enough in my context as being in this part of SH for work.
My colleague translated the menu card I brought back and told me it has a generic name. However, for the benefit of other Muslims visiting this part of SH, the address is 558 Tianmu West Road. If you cant read Chinese, order by the pictures!
