Expired residence permit

My residence permit is going to expire on the 20th of September. I have a flight to Taiwan on the 19th and back to Shanghai on the 23rd evening with Hong Kong Airlines. On the 26th at 1.30 am I have my flight to Italy with Air China. Can I stay in China for these 3 days with this free transit option (even if the airlines are different and I have and expired residence permit)? Thanks in advance.
