It takes about four weeks no matter you apply from Chinese embassy or the HK Immigration Department directly.

Hi Bill,

I have submitted a HKG "visit" Visa application for my wife (on Sept 18th) who has a Vietnamese Passport at the Chinese Consulate in Sydney. It has been about 2 weeks now. We are leaving on our Asian holiday from Sydney on Oct 17th to Malaysia, Vietnam and then HKG on Nov 1st.

I have submitted all the necessary supporting documents (flight itinerary, hotel bookings, bank statements, etc.) It has now been almost 2 weeks and no replies or update as yet.

Can you suggest any options on how to follow up to ensure we will be able to get a result in time before we leave on Oct 17th ?

rgds,
Nino.

Nino, you can track the processing status through the official website of HK Immigration Department or via the hotline (852) 3160 8663.
