can i purchase tickets using passport copy only?

Hi, I need to travel by train (Guangzhou-Zhuhai) and I do not hold my passport. It is with the immigration (PSB), as I am renewing my Chinese (work) visa. Will I be able to purchase train tickets using passport copy only? Thank you!
