documents required for applying visa to attend confereence, fees, where to apply,

I am doctor by professon, and resident of Maharashtra state. I am planning to attend a conference in Haikou on Nov 2013. How I should apply for it, what is the fees, which is a nearest place for me to apply, can any travel agent submitte and collect it on behalf of me. As I am traveling via Hong Kong where I am not going to stay, still do I have to apply one seperately.

You need to submit your application to CVASC in Mumbai. For business visit, following documents are required:
1. Application Form with a recently-taken color photo glued to or stapled on.
2. Valid passport and a copy of information page.
3. invitation letter, or conference notice issued by Chinese units.
4. Personal written statement (covering letter with details as follows: place to visit, name, address and contact number of the inviting / contact company or person).
You can entrust a travel agent for application if you can not go in person. For HK visit, visa is not required. So, a single entry Chinese F type is enough.
