buying ticket ahead of time

Hello all I would like to know if it is possible to buy ticket 2months ahead of the expected date of train departure?is that possible?
Another question is that if i buy online ticket and i dont want stay in the city and within 3 hours the trains is deparing ,where i can claim my train ticket then?thanks alot in advance
