Is visa required to travel to Shanghai?

I hold Fijian passport and I wish to travel to Shanghai for 6 days for business. As I reside in Perth Australia, I was wondering if I have to apply for a visitors type at the Chinese Embassy here in Perth

If you come to PRC for business, I think you need to apply for the M type from the CVASC in Australia. Your Australian residence permit or work permit is needed for your application.
