How long do you plan to study in PRC? If your stay is over 180 days, you need to apply for X1 type. If it is less than 180 days, you need to apply for X2 type. It takes four to five working days to deal with your application. If your documents are ok, you can get it on the fifth or sixth day after you submit your application.

The basic documents required are your passport, a finished application form affixed with a recent pasport size photo. If you apply for X1 type, you need to provide the original and copy of approved Foreign Student Visa Application Form (JW201 or JW202) issued by the Chinese authorized unit and the Admission Notice from the Chinese school. If you apply for X2 type, you need to provide the Enrollment Letter from the Chinese school.
