Entry into Xizang and China from Nepal, What types of visas do I need?

I am a US citizen and would like to enter Xizang (Tibet) and then China from Nepal. Is that possible?

I think it's almost impossible for you to enter Tibet from Nepal as an individual. All foreigners who plan to travel to Tibet must acquire the Tibet permit and travel in a group. If you really want to do this, I think you might find a Chinese travel agency to arrange Tibet Travel Permit and a tour for you.
