I'm going there for a semester from Jan to May next year, and I was wondering what climate I should expect

Yes, it may snow lighly in WH. During your stay, it may happen in Jan. or Feb. Generally, it can be warm even hot and a little wet there in Apr. till May. Therefore, I suggest you take along a sweater and Long John in case of snow, regular jacket and jeans as well as long-sleeeved shirt and a piece of short-sleeved shirt. Simple rainy gear shall be needed too.
