Travelling via Soft Sleeper train during Spring Festival

We're a family of 4 and will be visiting China during the Spring Festival next year (Feb 1-8, 2014).
We have booked our flights without realizing this. We will be traveling from Beijing to Shanghai on Feb 6, 2014 at around 6pm, could you please advise us what is the best option for us if we would go by train?
Appreciate your response thanks!

Actually, there are high-speed G-Trains available from Beijing to Shanghai. And the latest one departs at 18:05 from Beijing South Station. If you could catch this one, you can take the first or second class seat to get to Shanghai on the same day. Otherwise, you need to take an over-night train instead. But according to my experience, it is quite hard to get the sleeper tickets during the Chinese Spring Festival.
