About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Revisit China by a retired senior

I have been to China several times, last visit 2006, visa is in my old passport I still have. I want to go and visit friends I still have there and we keep in touch. I would like to stay as long as possible and could possibly stay with friends. Last time I stayed both at hotels and with friends. I can probably get an invitation letter but maybe not. What is my best course of action. I am quite familiar with travel there by air and land.
thanks. Gerry

If you plan to travel on your own without travel agency, an invitation letter from your friend is necessary. But you can only get a tourist L in this situation. Generally, the L will be issued with 30 days as the duration of stay. But an extension without leaving is possible now, so you can stay for 60 days in total.
