Hi, I'm interested in going to China to travel and study mandarin for 2-3 months, and would ideally not like to do it at a school, but rather just hire tutors while I travel around. I understand that the tourist visa is usually only 30 days, how can I go for longer?

Hi, you are right, a single entry tourist L allows 30 days. So, if possible, you can apply for a double/multiple entry tourist L providing detailed travel itinerary, flight tickets and hotel bookings.
