About:Chinese Embassy in New Zealand

What are the real requirements?

The embassy says on their website that you need the following for a tourist L:

4. Proof of your travel insurance. It must cover the duration of your stay in China.

5. Proof of fund requirement. Such as a recent bank statement or a letter from your bank stating your current balance.

6. Employment letter or evidence of stable income.

7. Proof of sufficient funds for the duration of stay, a minimum of USD $100 per day per person.

Do you really need all that as it at least doesn't say so on this website. I've got an EU passport and NZ work visa.

Hi, generally, confirmed flight ticket and Confirmation of accommodation reservation are enough if you visit for tourism. But you are suggested to prepare a bank statement to support your application.
