You can walk to reach Yau Ma Tei Station to take Tsuen Wan Line to reach Lai King Station. There you can change to Tung Chung Line to reach Tung Chung Station. Get out of the station, you can find the Ngong Ping 360 to take you to reach the Giant Buddha.
The fare for taking the MTR is around 18HK$. For the ngong ping 360, the price is hard to tell and it depends on what kind of cable car you take.
The food price is just so so, so please do not worry.

If you take the bus, you still need to transfer and it takes longer time and cost more than taking MTR.
Taking bus, it costs you about 33HK$ and takes about 65 minutes.
