I only heard there is a bangladeshi man frm borishal called molla bhai who runs a bangladeshi guest house called 'Bangla house'in the city, but I am sorry that I know almost nothing about this guest house.
In KM, the local Western Hill and Dianchi are suggested to visit in one day.

I recently had a travel from Seoul to Dhaka and I had a 19 hours of stay in Kunming. I was a bit worried at the beginning as well to use this route as China Eastern don't provide any hotel. After the immigration I went to a small Asian hotel named 'Dhaka Hotel'. The name of the owner is 'Bablue'. Its only 20 Dollar as a package for the whole transit stay including meal. Sounds cheap right? Ya, I was also initially confused about the quality of the stay there... but they server you free meal for the night and for the breakfast. And provide you a single or double room (it's a bit dormitory type), very clean, toilets were nice as well. They also provide a free airport pickup and drop service as well. This kind of hotels getting huge popular amongst the INdian, Bangladeshi, Nepalese and Pakistani travellers. For spending only 20 Dollars you will get the best offers from the. But in oneday they only can take a limited client. Therefore early booking is the best idea. You may call - +86-182-8823-5428 for the booking or email arianarif24gmail.com, kunmingmollahyahoo.com, or anismd.anistahoo.com. Address of the Hotel is : No. 169, WUJIA NEW Village, Kunming Dabanqiao, Guandu District, Kunming, China. But since they will also offer you the pickup and drop service you don't have to worry for the hotel address too much. I am sure this is the best deal that any passenger can get. Thanks for reading.

Hello Mr Udash, I am from Bangladesh too and I was wondering did your require a Chinese transit visa to go outside of the Kunming airport. If so how did you get it: 1) was it on-spot on the transfers/immigration desk in kunming? or 2) Did you get your passport stamped from the Chinese embassy in Bangladesh. I have a flight with them in december from chicago to dhaka and they offered me a complimentary hotel on my return trip to the USA. So on my way towards Bangladesh i also have a pretty long layover in kunming(12 hours).

Your reply would be very helpful as i am in dhaka at this moment and if I am to require a Chinese visa stamp on my passport from the Chinese embassy in dhaka, i could try getting it done by 7th August 2017(since I will be flying to usa on the 7th)
Thanks, Toufiq

^just a small correction meant to say one complimentary hotel stay on my return trip which they offered for the return section of my flight to usa where I have a 8hr 15min layover in beijing. So effectively on my trip towards Dhaka I also have to face a exhaustive long layover in kunming if I cant manage an hotel from an outside source other than China Eastern

Well, you don’t need a transit visa because the 24 hour direct is available for you. If you want to go outside of the airport, you can apply a temporary stay permit from the airport; you can ask the staff for the detailed information.
