72-hour visa transit

I will be arriving at Shanghai Hongqiao (SHA) from Tokyo Haneda (HND) at 16:30 on August 7th. I will then have to transfer to Pudong (PVG) to get my flight to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) on the same day at 23:30. This is all on one ticket, I am flying with China Eastern. My transit in Shangahi will therefore only be about seven hours. I am a German passport holder, so I assume I qualify for the free transit permit. Is there anything I have to keep in mind in advance? I also assume I have to inform the airline?
I hope anyone can help me with this, thanks!
