What is the best way to reach nanjing road from San Want Hotel, Yi Shan Road, shanghai?

MTR can be the best way. Walk from your hotel to Guilin Road MTR Station to take subway line 9 to Century Avenue Station, where you can transfer to line 2 to East or West Nanjing Road.

Can I just walk from San Want hotel to Nanjing Road? If taxi how much?

I'm afraid not, because San Want Hotel is around 12km from Nanjing road. If by taxi, it may cost CNY30-40.
