What are the 2nd class seats like on a D train?

Hi I have taken the high speed trains from Beijing to Nanjing a few times and the 2nd class seats are very nice. I was wondering if the 2nd class seats on the D train from Nanjing to Xian are the same? The only choices on the D train is soft sleeper or 2nd class seats.
