Baby Formula, can I take into China?

I'm heading to China to see some friends one of whom had a baby last year. I asked what gift they'd like ans the one item that asked me to bring was follow on milk formula for their son. I know Hong Kong recently had a strict policy on bringing milk powder into the mainland but are their any current restrictions for other visitors?

Yeah, it is suitable for all passengers that no more than 1.8kg baby formula can be taken out of HK by people above 16 years old.

Oh, to bring that to mainland China, I heard no more than 6 cans, which are over 800g for each, are allowed to be taken in.
