REP to Beijing and on to Detroit, but connecting in CAN. Will I qualify for the 72 hour transit?

I am flying from Cambodia , connecting in CAN (2 hour layover), to Beijing, and then flying from Beijing to Detroit 48 hours later.I am unclear whether I have to clear customs in CAN since first airport to arrive.
