Can i apply for a tourist visa in Rio de Janeiro?

I am a UK citizen travelling around South America for three months then looking to fly to China for four weeks. As i will already be abroad in advance of my trip i will have to apply for it whilst away.

Hi, I am afarid you can not apply in Rio de Janeiro if you are not a resident there. They want to see residence permit if non-Brazil passport holders for application. So, you can make a short visit to HK and apply there if possible.
