Which visa does my husband require to join me for 1 year?

My husband and I want to travel to Beijing for 1 year. I will be teaching English, so that was easy to figure out, but my husband is a Softwre developer in Toronto, he works from home, and plans to continue his job in Beijing. Were just not sure which type to apply for?
