Do I have to provide letter of Invitation?

I hold an Australian Passport and I have been to China on numerous occasions visiting friends and relatives and I never had to submit a letter of invitation. Do I now require a letter of invitation?
Also...if I also travel to Macau do I apply now for multiple entries visa?

Yes, you can apply for a multiple entry L if you plan to visit Macao during this trip. Invitation letter is not required if you can provide hotel bookings and round-trip tickets.
