What's your purpose of coming to China, for a visit? If so, prepare the documents and apply for a L type one. You need to offer:
1. a valid (at least six months) passport with at least two blank pages
2. a completed application form affixed with a recent passport size photo
3. An invitation letter or round trip air tickets and hotel reservation
4. original and a copy of his or her permanent residence or work permit which should be valid for at least half a year (except for those who are visa or permit exempt for residing or working in the UK).
