need advice

I am being invited to a conference from june 26-30 in shanghai. I haven't been to asia since 1988 as a teenager. Now i have a wife and 3 daughters ages 6-10. I am considering bringing them with me and extending the trip by a week or possibly more. I hear it is very hot during this time. Can you advise if I should just come alone this time or bring family. Also, how many days do you think we would need to make it worth it? I would want to taste all the authentic food. do your tours serve western food or chinese? We would want the most authentic experience as we are chinese americans and always appreciate asian food. I hear beijing, xian would be good but any others and what kind of timeframe i would need to free up would be appreciated..thx

If this is your first visit, I would recommend Beijing, Xian, Shanghai or Guilin as your destinations. Since you will stay in Shanghai, you may take a week trip to Beijing and Xian. The meals arranged in the itinerary are all authentic Chinese foods.
