About:Chinese Embassy in U.K.

I am travelling from the uk, going to visit my english friend in wuhan for 14 days, do I need a visa

Yes, you need to apply for a tourist L type for this visit. Invitation letter and copies of your friend's residence permit, valid visa are required.
