Either can be ok. It is not that hard to travel by yourself. But if you don't wanna miss any good points and want your trip more smooth, traveling with tour will help.

It is aorund 100km between the two destinations, and bus is the best choice. You can take a bus at GL Bus Station to Longsheng. Then at Longsheng, there are many tourism buses to Longji Terraces.
