About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Transit Visa Guidline

I am Canadian travelling to India from Canada and wish to have a stopover in Shanghai - My flight is arriving 5 PM on Thursday and if stay for 3 days then my flight is leaving to Delhi is Monday 9:30 PM, which is more than 72 hours (between arrival of flight and departure of flight) although checking out and checking in time could fall in 72 hours - Do I need to apply for a G type one? or should I stay for 2 days only suggest please ........

It's up to your airlines. The 72 hours is counted when you are granted with the transit permit. But some airlines count the 72 hours based on the scheduled landing and scheduled departure of the flights. If you already book your ticket, then apply for a G type one before you go. Or you may change your flight for an early one in order to meet the requirements for 72 hours free transit.
