Do I need money to leave/exit China?

Immigration stopped my friend from leaving China because she had insufficient funds. She already had a plane ticket to Australia with a return to her home country of the Phillipines. She was already issued a tourist visa to come to Australia.

I have never heard about that, did your friend overstayed in China?

She had a working Z that expired on the day she was due to leave. But she said when she went to catch the plane to fly to Australia they wouldn't let her leave due to insufficient funds. She already had a tourist visa issued to her to come to Australia and a plane ticket here with a return to her home country of the Phillipines.
