About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

We have an L Visa. Do we have to register with anyone when we arrive?

We are staying with my son for a few days and then travelling around China with him on overnight trains, boats, planes etc. I had heard that hotels register you but how do you manage when you are not in an hotel? I know my son had to register when he moved from his hotel into his private home. We don't want to break any rules unknowingly. Many thanks.

Yes, you need to register to the local police station where your son lives. This should be done within 24 hours after arrival.
