About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72 hours VISA free transit for Seoul=>Shanghai=>Hong Kong / Informing airline before?

Hello, I have a flight e ticket confirmed (no seat attributed though just confirmed paid ticket) with China Eastern as follow:
Hong Kong => Shanghai => Seoul with only two hours in Shanghai so not leaving the airport
And then Seoul => Shanghai => Hong Kong with a layover of 50ish hours in Shanghai.

First thing I have a French passport with work permit in Canada where I'm temporary worker until 2015 can you confirm this strictly follows the rule so that I don't need to apply for a visa as I'm ready to apply if necessary but as I'm leaving in May 14 I have to hurry if I have to do so..

Otherwise about the point number 3 when you say "travelers should make sure put forward transit permit requests to the airlines taken in advance, so that the airlines can declare it to the airport customs before landing" what does that mean? I called China Eastern office in Vancouver and they told me it is fine for me with the ticket I booked with them and that there is nothing to do. Can you confirm this saying? otherwise what should I do? let them know before leaving Seoul? (in any case I guess if they let me board the plane it means I won't be stuck in Shanghai!).

Thanks.

Sylvain, it isn't a problem. You just need to tell the airlines that you want to enjoy the 72 hours free transit in Beijing. It's ok.

Thanks Frank, what do you mean by tell the airlines do I have to tell them before boarding in Seoul or should I call them again (Vancouver office) to make sure?
Have you personally done the VISA free 72h stay? I found hard to get actual travelers feedback on how it is actually working on site online.

Inform them before boarding in Seoul so that they can report this transit need to the airport immigration. Actually, they will notice that you have a stopover in Shanghai for 50 hours by checking your ticket. So, don't worry.
